UKCC/BCU Level 1 Coach Course
This is the first step in becoming a coach and opening up the world of paddlesport to new people. The course will give you the confidence to run fun, active sessions and over the 4 days you’ll learn how to teach people new skills.

BCU 3 Star White Water
3 star is the first discpline specific award, necessary for getting on the coaching ladder but also a sound achievement in your paddling career. The training & assessment take place over a river trip, just a normal day out with a spot of coaching where we are looking to pass you at every opportunity. Topics include personal white water and rescue skills. You should have 2 star skills to attend the training but not necessarily the award.

BCU 4 Star White Water
4 star, in its discpline, is a leadership award aimed at delivering the skills and concepts needed to safety lead a group of mates down class II/III water. Both training and assessment runs over the weekend with an action plan to take home at the end. You should have your 3 star award to attend the training & white water safety and rescue, and logged training & development to attend the assessment.

BCU Foundation Safety & Rescue Training
This award is designed to give you the necessary skills to deal with incidents that occur on flat water. Not only is this course a requirement to be a coach, but is an extremely useful course to give you the skills to ensure safety when you are out boating with your mates!

BCU White Water Safety & Rescue
You’ll need to do one of these courses before your 4 star assessment but also offers great peace of mind and practical solutions to typical river situations. The course covers aspects of safety & rescue (they are different!) and this is the kind of course you’ll want to bring your mates along!

BCU Advanced White Water Safety & Rescue
This new BCU award is pitched right in the class III/IV world and builds on the skills from the WWSR course. The course will stay relevant to you and your boating the whole time and work on developing your safety skills in this more challenging environment, more rope work and lots of active scenarios to get you thinking.
