Morocco
Introduction
Morocco has so much to offer in terms of multi-day kayaking trips and culture, it’s an ideal location for your first ‘adventure paddling’ trip or your tenth! The 10 day course offered in Easter 2009, can give you the skills and confidence required to start running your own multi-day trips, or the chance to just paddle some of the amazing deep gorges.
Trip Outline
We will pick you up from the airport and spend a night in Marrakesh to experience the busy markets and food on offer in the Djema el Fna. Over a cup of mint tea we will discuss the plan for the next few days and work into the plan any of your aims.
We will then build up to some multi-paddling in Morocco, this process will look at paddling a heavy boat, what to carry on the river, how to use some of the specialist kit we will be using, picking camp sites and cooking marshmellows! We will be traveling around in a driven mini bus, giving us scope to get to a number of rivers and spend as much of the trip on the water as possible using these new skills in the scenic gorges and bright sunshine.
We’ll arrive back in Marrakesh with enough time for a good old knees up on the last night and deliver you and your boat to the airport.
The trip will be run by myself and David Fairweather, giving you the best student to staff ratio possible. This will allow your aims and needs to be better accommodated. Dave and I are both qualified BCU coaches and have paddled all over the world.
Equipment
A full kit list of equipment you will need for the trip will be sent if you decide to book onto this course, but you will need a suitable boat for multi-day paddling, all your paddling equipment and some camping equipment. All specialist equipment, such as stoves and water purification will be supplied. If you need any help or advice with kit, you will be more than welcome to get in contact.
Booking and Cost
The course will run from Friday 3rd April to (Easter) Sunday 12th April and cost £995. This will include all the coaching and river leading on the trip, transport whilst in Morocco and accommodation (hotels and river banks!).
You will need your own travel insurance, money for food on and off the river and a flight to Marrakesh. These are easy to catch with a boat and available from EasyJet and Ryan Air from all over the UK.
