Slovenia

Alpine Adventures

Rich on the SocaSummer boating is all about getting out of the UK for warm sunshine, continuous rapids and crystal clear waters! Slovenia offers all of these things and more for the class II / III paddler.

Trip Outline

The course will start with a session to plan your personal aims and objectives for this week long course so you can get the most out of it. The next 3 days will be spent on the water, reviewing your progress each day. Tom in the ActionWe will then have a day off to rest those aching muscles and see the sights of Slovenia!  Then spend the next 3 days again on the water, paddling the different sections of the Soca.

The evenings will be play host to evening interest lecture ranging from kit to expedition stories. The last day of the course will be the 27th and the course will end with a big team dinner out and party!

The course content will be up to you but topics covered could include Personal Skills, White Water Safety & Rescue, Leadership, a chance to work on any BCU awards or simplify to Nickypaddle away from home, somewhere new in a safe and friendly environment!

David Fairweather and myself will be leading the course at a low student to staff ratio so you will get the chance to work with both coaches giving you two different approaches to your course aims.

Venue

Crystal Clear Blue Waters

The town of Bovec, in the East of Slovenia, is ideally placed for paddling in the summer and skiing in Winter.  The snow capped Julian Alps are in the background to this small but active town and the River Soca runs through with it, it’s harder to get closer to the action!

You will need white water spec boat, paddle, helmet, BA, deck & shoes, rescue equipment and a dry cag & shorts combo!  If you have any problems with any of these items then give me a shout.
