Bavarian Progression

The first part of this trip is to explore and discover the white water of Bavaria, South Germany. A region that is often overlooked but with some quality white water and a stunning back drop. Here you can expect to paddle rivers like the Rissbach and the Isar. There is also a remote bus shuttle for a sense of adventure and something a bit out of the ordinary!
The second half of this trip is developing your progression, and we will be heading into Austria and the classic Landeck region.  Here will we build on the concepts applied in Bavaria and apply them to a different region and in a slightly more challenging environment on sections like the Landeck Gorge & Rosanna.
You should be happy paddling class III to fully enjoy this trip and by the end you’ll be much happier on Alpine class IV.

Chai & Coruh

Arriving in Istanbul it is clear why Turkey is labelled the country where East meets West, and why the rapidly expanding city is so popular with tourists. It has great sites and amazing views, you could spend an entire holiday just within the town itself.
Take that journey even further and you arrive in the mountainous regions in the East of the country. During the winter much of the area is covered in snow, melting in May it starts the rivers flowing. This sets the scene for the best multi-day paddling adventure in Europe.
This course has been designed to give you the skills you need to start doing your own adventure paddling so will look what (and what not!) to take on an overnight trip, camping on the riverside & paddling a heavier boat.

For this week long trip, you’ll need to arrive and depart from Erzurum airport. We would have a warm up day, preparation & planning and then the 5 day descent of the Coruh.  You can plan your trip with a stop over in Ankara & Istanbul to get the full cultural experience.  To fully enjoy the paddling you should be comfortable on class III with some class IV experience.

The course includes top rate hotels and restaurants when not on the river, camping on sandy beaches and eating camp prepared meals.  All transport in Turkey included.

Dates: 12th – 19th June 2010,
Price: £750.  This doesn’t include return flights, personal insurance, food or alcohol.

The Georgian Journey

This is an expedition style trip is for those looking for something a bit different. The outlining plan for the trip is to explore and discover the white water available in Georgia whilst visiting a country with so much more.
We will have a 4×4 for the duration of the trip and will stay in local home stays and camp as we travel across Georgia hitting the big rivers. This could be the Tergi, Enguri, Nenskra, Tskhenistskali & Rioni but what we do will be up to you. The rivers are rarely paddled so we will need to be cautious and treat everything with respect. This adds a new dimension to your paddling both physically and mentally, a step up, that we’ll take in manageable amounts so together we can make some mighty descents.
You should have some experience of class IV boating and ideally paddled in the Alps before. If you are interested in this, then please give me a call on 07843098980 to discuss further & in more detail.

Dates: 13th August to the 27th August 2010.
Price: £1295. This includes coaching & guiding, 4×4 hire & accommodation. This doesn’t include return flights, personal insurance, food or alcohol.

Canoe Camping

Adventure doesn’t have to mean deep, dark class V canyons. It could be a trip must closer to home. These touring trips are designed around you, where you are based, where you’d like to visit, what skills you have and what you want to learn.
A suggested touring trip in the Lake District would start with a gentle river paddle down the Brathay River into Windermere, travel to the National Trust campsite to set up camp having carried tent, stove & food in your boat, paddle to the pub, have a good nights sleep and then continue to the south of the lake.
Another idea, this time up in Scotland could be to paddle the Caledonian Canal. A slightly longer trip, a chance to really get enjoy the freedom of camping on river side, and having nothing to do all day but go paddling.
All equipment available including touring boats, open boats and camping kit.
You should have some experience in a boat, knowing how to go forward, turning & sideways would help but not fully necessary.

Dates: 25th – 26th July 09 – North Wales,
15th – 16th August 09 – Lake District.
All year around. Please get on contact to arrange a date that suits you.
Price: Starting from £95 for a 2 day trip.
